Right now is all that is real. The past is what was, so living within the past is living within fiction, a constant state of nostalgia, and the future is what could or might be, but doesn’t exist, so it’s a constant state of anxiety. Both are fantastical, not real, and thus fiction. They’re narratives. You have no agency in either because they don’t exist, but you can determine how you live going forward as to influence your future. Thinking on the future is more practical than on the past as it has practical merit; whether in business or relationships, future thinking or at least in the long term is valuable.
