Embrace leisure

Modern life seems full of leisure, but its leisure of the wrong kind. Instead of going on walks in nature, reading, resting, spending time with family, we sit down and watch movies and TV shows, drink, gorge on sweet foods, party, and distract ourselves from our minds and the quality of our lives.

Leisure, of the right kind, is really crucial. Creativity seems to happen in the subconscious, when you aren’t thinking about anything, rather than the conscious. In rest you recharge and gain new energy. In nature you find perspective, and in family you find connection. Don’t feel guilty spending time away from creation. No great ideas will occur sitting at your desk. The mind works better when walking. Give your mind the time to process, recharge, think, and look at things in new ways. The quality of the decisions you make is as important as the time you spend making them. Do things seemingly irrelevant to what your goal is, because what appears as a backwards step can allow you to shine the light forward.
